General comments
- Great night! A real collaborative learning
opportunity that has been so positive, not one of
those dreary kinds of workshops that education is famous for. Well done, thank
you!
- This is my first experience and exposure to
Moodle. Very compelling and interesting. I can see
how it can become a very powerful learning tool. I look forward to learning
more.
- It was good to share
the trials we experience in preparing test banks in chemistry, especially
where equations with subscripts etc. are difficult to include. A means of
simplifying the process
may be at hand!
- Great ability to expand
the classroom beyond four walls.

What's next
One of the most important outcomes for us at
IMG and The Learning Curve was to find out from you just
what we should do in the future. Listed below are some of the ideas you gave us.
Interspersed with these
are some preliminary thoughts that we have as well. We look forward to developing
these and to launch an
even more exciting year during 2009-2010. We are very serious about making these
kinds of sessions a
value added feature of this learning community. Therefore, we will
actively seek grant opportunities and
partnerships with organizations that want to share in this vision. Read on . . .
- Our professional development site is already
alive and well. However, we want to make it grow
into a thriving opportunity for educators.
Check it out.
- We will develop a Moodle site for shared
courses for students. This will provide schools in our Moodle
community an opportunity to offer courses that they could not otherwise offer.
Already there is
interest in a Screenwriting course. If you think your
school might want to enroll students in a
Screenwriting course taught by Patrick Daly of Waltham High School, please
email me.
- The state and national STEM
(Science-Technology-Engineering-Mathematics) initiative is a high priority.
We will develop this area for teachers not only in STEM subjects but also for
non-STEM teachers. This one
is already on the planning table.
- Perhaps
we can even offer an introductory engineering course for students.
Do you know someone
who could teach this online? If so, please
email me.
- We will seek grant funding to support
full-day workshops in various Moodle related topics. Recognizing
that funding is a serious problem for schools, we will seek ways of funding
the hiring of substitutes to
release teachers for participation in full-day seminars.
- Soon: We want to host a session
especially for superintendents. This is a high priority. There is no
question that this level of support is essential if we are to expand and if we
are to provide even higher
levels of service and support.
- For 2009-2010: We will plan a series
of professional development sessions, perhaps 3-4 spread out
through the year. Each would focus on a specific subject area and/or grade
level.
